Scratch Day is an international day of learning, sharing and collaboration with MIT's Scratch, the programming language for everyone.
This year local educators and developers Joe Bacal, Drea Marks, Mary Ann Dassati, and Andrew Pasquale will be hosting a Scratch Day event at the Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts. The event will take place in the Community Room, downstairs in the Children's Section. The time will be both structured and open-ended. Following a brief introduction, people who want to just get started and explore Scratch on their own will be free to do so, and facilitators will be on hand to answer questions. For those interested in a more structured instruction, there will be both coaching and on-paper tutorials and challenges. At the end of the event, there will be a chance to share projects. To plan for the available space and time, please register here with your email address. The event is ideal for people aged 7 to 127, and kids under 12 should come with a grown-up. We will provide a snack. Participants who are able should bring their own laptop. We will have a few extras on hand if needed.
There has been a great deal of interest in Scratch Day and this session is fully enrolled. We have added a second session following this one. Please register for session 2 here.
