Speaker FAQ

What type of sessions will be picked?

Everyone has a lot of valuable knowledge to share, but given constraints of time and space, only certain sessions will be picked. The #1 goal is diversity so there is something for everyone. In particular though, the program coordinators will be looking for content that is:

  • Broadly accessible
  • Interactive and question provoking
  • Clarity in expected audience and goals

How long should my session be?

Most sessions will be 45 minutes long. 30 minutes for speaking and try to leave 15 minutes for Q+A. Longer training workshops are possible as well, add that in your proposal. Sessions cannot run over as we have to rotate people in and out of the space.

What facilities will be available?

We will provide projectors and audio equipment (microphones) in every room.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring a laptop and a way to connect to the projector (VGA plug). If you don't have a laptop, or will have an issue connecting to an external monitor, notify the organizers and email your deck ahead of time.

Help! I've never presented before, can I do it?

Yes you can! There is only one way to improve and that is to practice. See the Speaker FAQ for DrupalCon Chicago 2011 which has some very good resources on how to prepare a killer presentation.
