Volunteer Coordinator
Are you good at wrangling people? Making sure things are running smoothly? Communicating? We are looking for someone to start ASAP as Volunteer Coordinator. 

NERDSummit teams
We need teams of volunteers to help this first-ever, community-run conference be the best it can be. We need commitment to one of the following teams for at least half of a day during the weekend.

Roles and Teams

NERDSummit Admin Staff - Assists Volunteer Coordinator in all escalations.

Volunteer Coordinator (this should be 1 person across the entire weekend)
Collaborates with and Schedules coverage for registration, sessions, and sponsors teams across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 
Ensures teams have the tools needed to cover their responsibilities. Work with NERDSummit Admin staff to handle escalations.

Registration team responsibilities (this should be 2-3 people at all times)

  • Setup and teardown of registration area
  • check people in - verify their registration, give appropriate badge and goodies
  • give out parking coupons (if applicable)
  • give out and explain meal tickets (if applicable)
  • check-in child for childcare (if applicable)
  • give out and explain CoC and schedule
  • sell shirts
  • take donations
  • direct people to rooms
  • explain conference events
  • manage lost and found
  • solicit volunteers and connect them with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • escalate registration issues to Volunteer Coordinator if needed

Sessions team responsibilities (this should be 4-5 people at all times)

  • confirm all rooms are setup for the day
  • confirm with registration that each speaker has arrived, escalate to Volunteer Coordinator if speaker has arrived within an hour of their talk
  • check each room before during and after each talk to help with AV or CoC if needed
  • escalate AV or CoC issues to Volunteer Coordinator if needed

Sponsors team responsibilities (this should be 1-2 people at all times)

  • Setup and teardown of Sponsor Pavilion area
  • manage Friday Job and Career Fair activities
  • manage and enforce sponsor table placement
  • make rounds in Sponsor Pavilion every 1-2 hours to help with power or CoC if needed
  • escalate power or CoC issues to Volunteer Coordinator if needed
